Ampicillin and cloxacillin (Ampiclox) is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms; it is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins; common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, allergic reactions, and skin rashes; and it may interact with other drugs such as probenecid, which can increase its levels, and certain anticoagulants, which may have altered effects.
